No LMS? No Worries!

Infiniscope Presents: Enrollment 101

Welcome back!

The new school year is upon us and based on our quick poll in the Facebook Hivespace, we see some of you are feeling a bit ho-hum about it. Not to worry! We are here to support you. Today's topic is all about the Enrollment feature on Infiniscope. Not just ANY enrollment feature, but the one you can use even if you DON'T have an LMS like Canvas, Moodle, or Blackboard.

We built something called LMS-free, specifically for educators without an LMS. We want to show you how it all works, so make sure you bookmark this page for quick reference!

Below you will find a series of steps, a few 🔥HOT TIPS🔥 to help you out and maybe a couple of subtle (not so subtle?) jokes. Before we dive in, we admittedly are making a couple of assumptions, such as

    1. you already have an Infiniscope account
    2. you know how to login
    3. you know how to find a lesson page through the view educator resources button

If you are missing any of this know-how, check back soon for other blog posts on these topics.

To begin your LMS-free enrollment journey, select a lesson and open the lesson resources page. Once on the lesson resource landing page, scroll to the bottom to find these 3 ways to teach:

1. Choose "Enroll to get started".

2. Choose the first button "I don't have an LMS or I use Google Classroom."

3. Set up your course section by adding a TitleStart date and End date.

🔥HOT TIP #1🔥

Does your school prevent students from receiving emails from outside their domain? Has this kept you from using tools in the past because they require students to verify an account but they never get that email? Well, we've built something to solve this problem! We have a new version of enrollment that allows you to omit the email verification step. That's right...OMIT. All you have to do is toggle that field on when setting up the section.

4. Once you've setup your course section, you will view the section overview page. Scroll until you reach the section titled "Manage" and select the option to "Invite Students".

5. You will then be asked how long you want the link for enrollment to be available. After you've made the selection, a link will be generated that you will share with your students. From here, students will create an account to gain access to your section once it opens.

🔥HOT TIP #2🔥

If you have chosen to omit student email verification, make sure your section has not started prior to students generating accounts. Once the section has opened, students that missed the account creation window will be unable to access the section.

We DO NOT recommend starting a section and inviting students to start the same day. Any students that are absent that day will be unable to access your section forcing you to create a separate section/s for absent students.

This hot tip does not apply to those choosing to enroll WITH the email verification step.

🔥HOT TIP #3🔥

You can manage lesson access with link expiration dates. This comes in handy if you need to extend the due date for a subset of students. Simply invite students with a new link that has an extended expiration date.

And that's it! Let us know in the comments what other topics you'd like to see in our future blog posts. We'll keep growing our knowledge base around your instructional needs.
